Permanent resident (over 3 months)

If you spend more than 90 continuous days in Tunisia without a residence permit, you will have exceeded the time allowed, and a penalty may apply before you can leave. If you wish to settle in Tunisia for retirement and live there, your situation can be regularised by applying for a residence permit.

Residence permits issued by Tunisia are valid for one year and must therefore be renewed annually.

Temporary resident (under 3 months)

Stays of less than three months require no particular formalities: they are treated in the same way as an ordinary tourist visit. A valid passport is required by the local authorities on arrival. As entry requirements can change, it is worth checking the latest guidance before you travel.
